Ca´n Truyols

Ca´n Truyols

Description

The principal house façade is oriented towards Carrer de Sant Roc. However, the building also features a major lateral façade facing Carrer de l´Estudi General. On the carrer de Sant Roc, the façade is three floors high, with a rounded arch, a baroque-style balcony, a plain frame on the first floor and a porch with circular fluted columns, with parallel concave grooves. The façade facing Carrer de l´Estudi General shows a recently built lowered arch on the ground floor. The noble floor presents three highly interesting openings, with two Renaissance balcony portals and window; the balconies feature baroque iron ornaments and pedestals. The one to the right shows dynamic, curved elements. The porch, as in the other façade, presents circular fluted columns, with parallel concave grooves. The lobby was refurbished recently; a huge lowered arch, sustained by a new pillar, connects with the patio, whose main axis is located at the carrer de Sant Roc. From the main entrance, two covered sections, separated by a lowered arch, two arches smaller in size, the left one a rounded arch above the stairs, and a lowered arch the one to the right, sustained by a Tuscan column on a plinth. To the right, the small open patio. On the left, the staircase ascends and turns, in a right angle, towards the right.

Historical reference

He sold it to Pere de Santjoan. The building was rebuilt in the middle of the XVIth century. In the year 1566, the house was purchased by canon Agustí Ferragut, after whom the house was named for many years. In 1656, the house became the ownership of Agustí Palou, the successors of whom would take care of the house until almost the end of the XVIIIth century. Afterwards, it was purchased by the Truyols family, the current owners of the house. According to the Archduke's work, until the year 1872, the house "opens in three Renaissance style balconies, rather simple but of extraordinary good taste".
