Santa Clara

In the year 1256, King Jaume I authorised the building of a Franciscan convent dedicated to Santa Clara. Nowadays, though, we can only visit the church and a small square to access it, because it still is an enclosed convent.

The inside of the convent still keeps the original Gothic features; thus the details of the constructions of that age can be observed. The halls with ceiling on pointed arches are worth mentioning; among them, the most impressive one is the chapter house.

The present church is the third church built by the convent at the end of the XVIIth century. The ground plant is a single nave, with lateral chapels, it has groined vault ceiling in a section, but half barrel vault the other, keeping the austerity in the entire interior.
The façade is Mannerist (1671).
