Sant Miquel

San Miguel

It was built on the foundation of the old Muslim mosque, which was, after remodelling, used as a Christian temple in the XIII century.

As early as the XIV century the erection of a new Christian temple was begun. Three centuries later, there was posterior remodelling, defining it present shape: the area was widened and also the orientation was also changed, the main façade becoming the one facing Calle Sant Miquel. As a result we have a Gothic area in essence, but with the features of the posterior (XVII century) religious architecture . The only nave with lateral chapels is perfectly combined with an trapezoidal apse and a half barrel vault.

The inside was totally reformed and nowadays there are just a Gothic vault and an arch in the first chapel remaining.
